FIU-Aruba Publishes Guidance on the Reinstatement of Iran-Related UN Sanctions and Reporting Obligations
FIU-Aruba has published a new guidance document entitled “Guidance on the Reinstatement of Iran-Related UN Sanctions and Reporting Obligations”.
The guidance has been issued following the activation of the snapback mechanism under United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2231 (2015), which resulted in the reactivation of a number of United Nations sanctions measures relating to Iran.
The document provides service providers with practical guidance on:
- the implications of these developments for Aruba;
- the link between the sanctions measures and proliferation financing;
- applicable reporting obligations; and
- identifying and reporting transactions that may be linked to proliferation financing or the evasion of Iran-related targeted financial sanctions.
FIU-Aruba encourages service providers to familiarize themselves with the guidance and to report any unusual transactions identified in accordance with the reporting obligations described therein.
The document can be accessed here: Guidance on the Reinstatement of Iran-Related UN Sanctions and Reporting Obligations.
